When exploring how best to treat your cancer, you have a whole number of options as to go about doing that. During research, the main options you might encounter will likely be traditional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or surgery, but they are far from your only options. There are a wide variety of alternative and holistic cancer treatments available to you that can often be used in tandem with or in support of a more traditional cancer treatment regimen. Some of them, specifically, are aimed at detoxifying and purifying the body with the aim of best equipping it to fight your disease. While any treatment should always be discussed with your doctor beforehand, here are a few treatment options you may not have considered that are available to you.

1. IV Therapy

In simple terms, IV therapy consists of receiving supplements—including nutrients, electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals—directly into the bloodstream via an intravenous drip. You may have heard of IV therapy before in the context of “hangover cures”, but it’s really so much more. By injecting nutrients directly into the bloodstream, it empowers the body to better fight disease and maintain a healthy stasis, without having to work for it as hard. This makes it easier to recover from hangovers, to be sure, but it also makes it easier to recover from cancer.

2. Infrared Sauna

Infrared saunas are a tried-and-true wellness trend that has been popular—albeit in more primitive forms—as far back as nine thousand years ago. Saunas have a number of notable health benefits, primarily stimulating cardiac activity by using heat to dilate blood vessels. This increase in blood flow causes benefits such as increased metabolism, increased circulation, pain reduction, improved sleep, improved immune system, and more. Nowadays, there are a number of at-home infrared sauna options that allow you to get all the benefits of a sauna without necessitating you to leave the comfort of your own home.

3. Hyperbaric Oxygen Tank

Hyperbaric oxygen treatment is a procedure where you—in a supervised environment—breathe in 100% oxygen, typically at pressures lower than sea level. What this does is innundate your body with oxygen, which delivers oxygen in high doses to all your cells in order to enhance cellular function. That enhancement can increase new blood vessel growth, which in turn can enhance healing. This same process can also decrease swelling and inflammation which can result from either your cancer or its treatments.

4. Nutrition Changes

This option might seem trivial, but it can genuinely have a huge impact on your health during treatment for cancer. Particularly if you struggle with obesity or high insulin, pursuing a low sugar, high protein diet can genuinely help you fight your cancer, as research shows that cancer thrives in high-insulin environments. Even if you can’t go that far, pursuing better nutrition in general can help your body get the nutrients and fuel it needs to properly fight your disease to the best of its ability.

5. Supplements

In line with nutrition changes, supplements can help give your body the tools to fully fight its cancer; the best weapon your body has against cancer is its own natural processes, so it makes sense to enhance those as much as possible. In addition, many cancer treatment regimens such as chemotherapy can deplete your body of energy and nutrients, so supplements can be a great, easy way to replenish those stores if they have been used up during the course of your treatment.

There are many ways you can help enhance the more traditional cancer treatment you will likely receive at a hospital during the course of your disease; this list contains only a few. If you are interested in more alternative treatments, we recommend continuing your research with some of our other articles. Again, you should always consult a doctor before embarking on new treatments, but at the same time, you should always feel empowered to fully take charge of your own health.
