He was introduced to Integrative and Functional Medicine when he became a patient himself. He was physically active most of his life working and lifting weights. Suddenly, he noticed that his energy began to decline, and he felt tired. All blood tests that were done came back normal. He knew there was something wrong. Eventually, his friend referred him to an Integrative and Functional medicine practitioner. He found out that he had hormonal imbalance and heavy metal toxicity. With functional medicine approach, he was able to get rid of the toxicity, detoxify, and started bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Regaining his energy and happy with the results, he soon got interested and devoted his time in learning Integrative, Holistic and Functional approach and applied the principles to his patients.

Over the years, he realized that conventional medicine has limitations especially in treating chronic conditions and cancer. He saw the devastating effects of chemotherapy and radiation in the quality of life of his patients. With several of his family members becoming diagnosed with cancer, he decided to focus his interest on Integrative cancer care. His open mindedness and willingness to learn led him to travel to several countries mostly in Europe, exploring advanced alternative treatments, speaking directly to cancer researchers, scientists, and learning from Integrative Oncologists how to treat cancer with the whole person approach. Dr. Acebedo is also dedicated to disease prevention, disease resolution, and wellness lifestyle through holistic, integrative, and functional protocols founded in science.

He is an active member of the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, International Society of Orthomolecular Medicine, Institute for Functional Medicine and Age Management Medicine.

In his spare time, he is involved in various fitness pursuits with his wife including martial arts, considers himself a “gym rat”. He lives a healthy lifestyle and is active in his church. His favorite quote is “God never created us to reach one level and then stop. When you stop learning you stop growing.”
